Let the debates begin

Hound Central 5.0 has asked the question, now it is your chance to answer.

Are Through-The-Mail, or TTM, requests really hounding? Post your answer here.

I think this can be debated in a million ways, especially because I do both in-person and TTM. So, let's make this a debate. Please post your "For" and "Against" debates here in the form of comments. I will take the results of the poll on HC5.0 and the comments posted here and through very non-scientific methods come to a conclusion for us all to see.

So there is no confusion as to the definition of hound. here is what the dictionary has to say:

hound n.
1. a. A domestic dog of any of various breeds commonly used for hunting, characteristically having drooping ears, a short coat, and a deep resonant voice.
b. A dog.
2. A contemptible person; a scoundrel.
3. a. One who eagerly pursues something: a gossip hound.
b. A devotee or an enthusiast: a coffee hound.
tr.v. hound·ed, hound·ing, hounds
1. To pursue relentlessly and tenaciously. See Synonyms at harass.
2. To urge insistently; nag: hounded me until I agreed to cut my hair.

Ghost Signer Alert! (Mike Modano)

I have seen numerous reports of Mike Modano success' over the past few months via his Westland, Mich., address. C'mon, folks, seven-day returns from a player who plays in Dallas?

This address, I believe, is his mother's. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see my hometown hero ( I hail from Westland ) return three and four cards back to his fans in a week. But it just isn't the case.

Modano is one of the nicest guys in the NHL and, obviously, his mother is his biggest fan. Don't get your hopes up and, please, don't waste your stamps.

Sunday Offerings

Hello and Happy Sunday. The bill box was slow for me this week, only relinquishing one response.

Not only did I keep an eye on the mailbox this week, but I also watched the counter for this blog. We have reached 500 views in about a month. Not too shabby for an unadvertised blog.

Since I know people are watching, I feel it safe to assume you are also mailing items out as well.

Please feel free to let me know about your successes and I will put them up for the other's to see.

I would like to have a TTM "Your Turn" post similar to the hounding adventures shared on Hound Central 5.0.

Please take the time to enjoy our third offering.

TTM Success (Hershey Bears Fan Pack)

Again, I will count fan packs as a TTM success. The Hershey Bears are always one of the better teams for fan packs and they came through again this time. Sending two commemorative programs, multiple schedules and a sweet Calder Cup patch. All for the cost of an e-mail.

Address: HersheyBears@HersheyPA.com
Sent: 2-20-10
Return: 3-13-10 Note: Sent a 2 programs, patch and 3 pocket schedules

TTM Tip (Address Correction Requested)

I wanted to remind everyone that hockey players are people, too. When sending out a request, remember that these folks seek job opportunities just like you and me. These opportunities sometimes require a relocation.

I have found that if you write on the bottom left corner of your envelope “Address Correction Requested,” the post office will send you any forwarding address that it has on record. Yes, it still comes back unsigned, but you now have a new address to try.

Even a RTS has a second chance if you use this method.

TTM Response (Bryan Trottier)

Bryan Trottier Hall of Famer from the New York Islanders dynasty of the 1980's swapped out the cards I sent to him for the above piece from a recycling company he does work with. I saw a few returns lately and thought that I will give up the cards I sent a while back for any card signed. After opening the mail It took all of about 5 seconds to see it was a facsimile.
I will deem this as a response and not a success. I will still post his address just in case any of you would like to get a copy of the card. Just don't send anything you want back.

Address: 504 Bluegrass Drive Canonsburg, PA 15317
Sent: 10-19-08 (2 trading card)
Return: 3-10-10 (1 Trading Card)

Note: Kept my cards and returned a pre-printed card of his own.
